Common mistakes and how to avoid them

Leaving the plus sign or leading zero in. wa.me wants digits only. A link built as wa.me/+44... or wa.me/044... will often fail or resolve to the wrong number. This tool strips both automatically, but if you build links by hand elsewhere, remember it.

Forgetting the country code. A bare local number has no country context, so WhatsApp cannot route it. Every number needs its country code, even the ones in your home country.
